Program Notes:

Overboard was written for the Escape Ensemble in December, 2019.  Luxurious solo, duet, and ensemble melodies reflect each member’s talents and personalities, and display the magnificent colors available in a horn quartet.  Overboard was composed as a heartfelt tribute to  the Escape2Create Board, who have given so much, so tirelessly, so consistently, to ensure that the arts thrive in and around Seaside and across the world. It is my attempt to express gratitude through beauty for the tremendous impact the E2C patronage has had on these young musicians and their careers, the multitude of international artist fellows they have hosted and supported, and on my own work and life.  It is no exaggeration to say that without Escape2Create and their invaluable gifts of time, space, and support, neither the Escape Ensemble nor this work woud exist.  With great respect and admiration, I dedicate Overboard to Marsha, Karen, Cathy, Sue, and all the others over the years who have contributed to create this truly special community and global legacy.
